The Soliotis and Melas families intersected when Zoe Melas, daughter of Natalia Dragoumis and Pavlos Melas, married Yiorgos Ioannidis, son of Spyros Ioannidis and Eleni (Nikitas) Soliotis. 

     The lives of Zoe and George Ioannidis, both of whom had remarkable careers in chemistry and medicine, have been recently documented by Christina N. Filippa in her book Γεώργιος Σπ. Ιωαννήδης (1893-1953) Ζώη Μελά-Ιωαννήδη (1898-1996) Πρωτοπόροι επιστήμονες στο Ελληνικό Ινστιτούτο Παστέρ (Εκδόσεις Απαρσις 2026). 

     Their daughters, Eleni Ioannidis and Natalia Ioannidis, each achieved acclaim in their respective academic fields of philosophy and music.  Natalia Ioannidis has edited a volume containing the extensive condolences sent to the Melas family following Pavlos Melas’s heroic death in 1904. She maintains and oversees the extensive Pavlos Melas Archive in her possession.
